Six years ago when I was getting tired of Facebook and all the dramas it caused, I moved to Path. At first I was a bit confused how to use it, but slowly I began to understand its features. And guess what? I used an Android phone at the time. My first and last Android phone, though. 😛 HEY, no one really used Android devices (yet) back then, because everyone was still caught up with BlackBerry, but I was already tired of using BlackBerry, lol.
Path is actually more simple and easier to use than Facebook. We could post photos, share our current location, share our thoughts, share the songs we are listening to, movies we watch, TV series, and even what books we read. Fyi, we could also tag friends on each of those features. And I remember I could see whoever visited my profile page, lol. But sadly they removed that feature few years ago, allowing our friends to stalk our feeds freely and deeply. Ahahaha..
There was a time when I was sick of social media (even Path too) and just lurked there. I didn’t leave completely, kok. But sometimes I didn’t know what to post. That’s why in the last 2 years I appeared on social media only when I was traveling. Nah, not to show off, though. I don’t even care if anyone sees it or not. I just want to leave traces of my trips in there. So someday when I feel down, I could look back and reminisce over memories and beautiful moments from those trips. It keeps me going and moving forward. 😊
I have 7541 moments on Path and most are posts from my trips, so yeah.. It is like a travel journal for me. Imagine how devastated I am when I read the announcement that they will discontinue and terminate the service. 😨 I am sad, and upset too. I like Path. A lot. It is the most comfortable place on the internet for me. But it’s not like I could do anything to make it keep running. 😭
Let me tell you something: my internet provider blocked Netflix. Then my government blocked Tumblr. And now Path will be discontinued. Like, seriously?
FML.
I know I could use a VPN to open Netflix and Tumblr, but still.. It’s annoying, ya know. I wish things were easier. This is 2018, ffs! 😞 Alright, I will stop ranting now because the more I think about it, the more upset I get, lol.
Anyway, Path also announced that all users will be able to backup their files before the termination date. I’ve requested mine already few days ago and I immediately got an email containing a link to download all my data from Path. Yeah, I should be glad about it, I don’t lose all my moments after all. I will just not be able to create more moments in there. 😛
Have you ever felt that way? Getting too attached to a social media? Shoot a comment! ❤️
